Fennel seeds

Fennel seeds are native to the Mediterranean but are now grown in India and China as well. Often referred to as sweet cumin due to its resemblance, fennel seeds come from fennel herb. They have an aniseed flavor and a sweet yet warm aroma. Used individually as well as in spice mixes, they lend a very aromatic flavor to breads and chutneys. They are also used as a breath freshener and aid indigestion.
